Star Trek crew members and golfers share a commonality?
Yes, they do. They both get to look good in their clothing while playing golf. Sounds strange? Well, read on and I'll try to explain this to you.
As we look toward the future of clothing for golfers we not look far. Star Trek has been leading the way by “boldly going where no one has gone before” as it relates to clothing trends. Trends that existed long before it became important in today’s golf clothing industry. Proof in point, who remembers the Star Trek episode, “Night”, when we learned about Starfleet’s’ process for safely recycling antimatter. While we don’t have antimatter to be concerned about our equalizer are the greenhouse gases that are rising and wreaking havoc on this planet and creating a carbon footprint that is causing us to find ways to reuse and recycle as much as possible.

From the stylish crew collar designs on the Star Trek clothing bearing a striking resemblance to the styles worn on the golf course, not only are the styles similar but the materials as well bear a striking resemblance. The new Star Trek outfits are made of 100% polyester. I think it’s a fair leap that the polyester made of 100% recyclable polyester. Remember that recycling episode mentioned above?
The proof is in the pudding! Did Star Trek learn what we are learning today? Did they realize that their carbon footprint needed to be reduced and decided to recycle the many plastic bottle taken from landfills on this planet and create clothing of the future with it?
It appears that Star Trek is still leading the way by taking imaginative clothing for space travel and making it real, viable and sustainable. It’s almost as if their unconscious behavior has risen to our conscious and created action. Action that is changing the way we make and design golf clothing.
